ASPIRE is a five-year project (2025–2031) funded by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) under the ASPIRE for Top Scientists programme. It is led by Prof. Kei Sakaguchi at the Institute of Science Tokyo, with ten overseas partner institutions across seven countries, including Politecnico di Milano, RWTH Aachen, Virginia Tech, CEA-Leti and Fraunhofer HHI.

The project develops a shared real-time Digital Twin platform rather than separate systems for each sector. Field data from four application domains (mobility, manufacturing, agriculture and nursing services) are turned into reusable DT infrastructure, AI models and core services. These are then validated through Proofs of Concept in a continuous loop between platform and field. The project also targets standardization in ISO, ITU, ETSI and 3GPP, and supports international exchange of young researchers.

ANTLab contributes its Network Digital Twin expertise to the Mobility work package, where Antonio Capone is global co-lead. Politecnico di Milano is also represented by Marco Mezzavilla, co-leader of the dissemination, exploitation and standardization work package.
